You know what they say,
Not enough shelf space? No problem. Just shove a thing or two here, rearrange that vase, move some of the figurines aside… and voila! I think there should be enough room for at least two or three books. It’s not a lot but it’ll have to do.
Sounds familiar? When you have many books still on your TBR (to be read) list and you vow and promise yourself that you wouldn’t buy another book until you’ve cleared up half that list. Yet, the moment you walk into a bookstore and the first thing that greets your sights are the 70% discounts splattered all over the shelves and ceilings in colourful starbursts.
So what do you do?
You are obviously not going to walk out empty-handed. But you can probably hear that faint high-pitched keening wail coming from your handbag (or back pocket, depending on where you keep your wallet/purse). Your bank account is probably all over your head too, begging and pleading with you not to buy anymore books. Worse, you might even hear your mother’s voice in your head!
Girl, you ain’t going near those bookshelves, you hear me!
After all that internal contemplation and under-your-breath muttering, you walk out of the bookstore. Proudly. With your head held high. Grinning from ear to ear. You have just won the mental and emotional battle with yourself. You exit the bookstore with two bags full of books. Of course, you only realise your folly once you get home and learn that there really isn’t anymore space left for your books, your bank balance is zero, your monthly allowance all used up and your mother isn’t cutting you any slack for buying all those books.
Are you like that?
Because I am.
And while I don’t live with my parents anymore, I do have a wailing bank account and a bookshelf with barely any space left for new books.
But it doesn’t stop me from doing window shopping online. Because these are the books that I’ve got my eyes on and may be making some future purchases:
Have you guys read any of these? I’m keen and I’m curious so hit me up in the comments below and let me know if any of these titles are worth reading!
